Reclaiming Inspiration…

{Best Day Ever}

Last weekend I attended the annual Scrappers Gone Wild retreat at Ferncliff, (hosted by Diane Freeman & Dana Hood) and I had the chance to reclaim some of my lost inspiration. One of the first projects I completed was the mailing package that I had started a while back. I love the look of the kraft packaging combined with the bright blended STAEDTLER watercolor crayons! I also threw on some Core’dinations tags that my 3 year old son and I had painted!

* I sewed a variety of stitches around the edges to which I think looks pretty darn cool. I definitely see the use of more mailing packages in my future!

setup

* Here’s another project I designed at the retreat. I started it by laying different embellishments on my table and then when I had the perfect configuration – I put it all on a sheet of Core’dinations snowflake white cardstock!

* I used STAEDTLER Watercolor Crayons to dress this little canvas up too! Then I created the cute little moon and stars with Fimo effects clay! It’s a little hard to see in the picture, but the pretty purple clay has glitter in it!!

* I wanted to share this gorgeous necklace that my very talented mother designed! I have fallen in love with it and hopefully someday it will be mine!! lol She made it using mostly all Industrial Chic products, along with a few of her own creations.

* This week, Core’dinations posted one of my layouts along with a tutorial on how I created this lovely background on their blog. Here is a link if you would like to check it out!

* Currently on my desk…2 watercolor canvases. I have been playing with my watercolor crayons from STAEDTLER again and I am hoping to finish up these two projects today!

me

* Took this picture while I was at the retreat last weekend. It’s slow going, but I am working on coming out of the cloud of fog that has been blocking my creativity for the last few months. I’m ready to go full force again and feel like myself…but I know it will still take time.

Creatively Yours,
April

  • Oh, April! I have been where you are! For weeks or months sometimes I feel “stopped up” for lack of a better term creatively. I WANT to create but I just can’t put my mind to it or I tell myself I can do creative things as a “reward” once I get housework/paying work/whatever obligations completed. I know that’s the wrong way to think about it and I’m trying to do better! Sometimes a retreat is JUST the thing to get back on track. Hope you’re up to speed soon. I’ll be back to visit your blog! I like it!
