Perfect

It’s funny how sometimes a quickly snapped photo suddenly becomes one of your favorites after you load it on your computer and realize what you have. The photo above is the perfect example for me…I took this photo of charlie one day at the dam and when I looked at it later I thought wow…that really looks cool! I love the colors and the stairs would be perfect for journaling and it’s a pretty darn cool picture if I do say so myself. – well at least that is what was going through my head when I saw the picture.

The other day I found a sheet of white cardstock that I had used to teach a technique on last year. I took some Grape Lumiere paint and used a brayer to spread it across the page to create a super quick artsy background. Anyway, for whatever reason something just clicked in my mind when I saw it and I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it.

I painted a Maya Road Sheer butterfly with acrylic paint and then outlined it with a glitter pen. I also colored some smaller Heidi Swapp Butterfly mirrors with alcohol ink and the red matched perfectly with the 7gypsies patterned paper in the background.

I used a white opaque pen to journal on the stairs in my photo and also added a small strip of transparent butterfly ribbon from Maya Road. I used my new Tim Holtz tiny attacher (which I freakin adore!! I mean I already loved staples, but cute little mini ones…well it just doesn’t get any better for me!).

I added a couple of layered Prima flowers and used one of my Sakura gelly roll pens to color around the glittered brad in the center. I also distressed the edges of my cardstock with my tonic studio’s paper distresser. Last but not least, I added my fabulous Distress Stickles in Brick Red to the tops of my American Crafts Thickers.
