Live 2 Create Studio!

Welcome to my Scrapbook Studio!
Last year my husband converted one of our bedrooms into an art studio/office for us! At first, I imagined having one of those really un-cluttered, totally color coordinated rooms like you see in the magazines…however after I started using it I quickly realized not only was that not going to happen…but it wasn’t me. I love being surrounded by inspiring pictures, projects, and gifts from friends…so although it may have a lot in it and be a mis match of a million different colors..I adore it and feel totally inspired when I create!

This is my main work area. I bought the huge Magnetic board at IKEA and I love it! I keep my Heidi Swapp ghost letters in magnetic kitchen containers and I love to hang family pictures, etc… right in front of me. My son Memphis created the beautiful butterfly layout for me to hang on it last week!

I am pretty much a stand up scrapper, so my husband built my scrap desk right around hip height for me. I love it!! I can sit when I need to, but otherwise I don’t have to strain my back anymore and it helps keep the kids out of everything as well.

I adhered sheets of cork board on the wall in between the desk area and the shelves. This just gives me even more space to display creations and pictures! Also, this shows a great close up of my fairy clock my cousin gave me for Christmas, my beloved crayon tower, and my bucket of chocolate!!!! …gotta have chocolate right??

The computer on the left is my main work computer and the right one is for video editing, and gaming. My husband likes to come in and play Oblivion while I scrap….we don’t really talk…lol…I turn my ipod on so he can listen to the game…..but we are in the same room together and enjoying getting to play!

The curtains provide the perfect cover for hiding all my extra scrap stuff and retreat supplies!

Underneath the closet shelf is the kids art area…they have some hidden shelves in there where they store all their art supplies, a couple of easels, some artwork on the walls that I created when I was a kid, a couple of magnet strips to hang their work, and a chalkboard…which just recently acquired some very hard to remove stickers!

This is where I hang all sorts of inspirational tidbits! I change them from time to time….

I love window prisms and currently I have a collection of prisms I have received for gifts, a few ornaments I’ve collected, and a couple of beaded shrinky dink charms I made before Memphis was born. During the day when the light streams in the prisms create little rainbows all over the room!

Okay I know…the room is already small and has so much in it…but I adore this big comfy chair and I love to sit in it with the window open and the breeze coming in….and just read my idea books or plan something…

I call these Charlie’s Angels and they are right above my main scrap area.

My husband built the desk so it could become a draft table whenever I wanted to paint or work on other art projects!

I have all my pens, markers, crayons, etc….on a kitchen shelf organizer right by my desk!

I store projects and mini albums on these two shelves!

Most of my scrapbook supplies are stored in the 3 drawer containers or in the two huge pull out drawers below the top of the desk area. I have all my paper, cardstock, transparencies, and extra supplies stored in the white cube drawers.

The pull out desk drawers are actually even bigger than what I’m showing you in this picture..but the back part is not so nicely organized…lol. I purchased Christmas Ornament storage bins at the Container store (after Christmas so I got them for like $1 each!). They are awesome for storing all my adhesives, labels, and odds and ends!

My Mastercarve Stamp set I created for a review on ScrapFriends. After using them I thought they made a cool decoration for the room.

I decorated one of my top shelves and the children’s craft area with white Christmas lights. On rainy days it looks really cool, and at night when all the other lights are off it’s so pretty! Why would I want to have lights on when I’m not in there?? Because every time I walk past the room it looks so inviting and really inspires me!

awesome room! lovely and efficient use of space
Love it! I think I would spend too much time on the comfy chair!
Wow. Wow.
Can I move in?
wow - I would live in that room
Great job! I’m trying to get my space together and couldn’t figure out how to get everything I wanted on my desk…I LOVE the idea of the tiered shelf! It’s not stealing if I tell you I’m using YOUR idea is it??!!!!
You are always such an inspiration to me to get organized. Your husdand is a wonderful man to work so hard to give you a space like this, and you are so awsome at putting it all together. Your room is so inviting, it makes me want to camp out in it.
Love it! The cork board backsplash is a great idea!!!
OMG!!!! LOVE IT!! Hope my room will look something like yours!
Followed your link from scrap friends. All I can say is WOW! What a great creative space you have here. Lucky You!
