Inspired By Kodomo

In the last few weeks before Castor was born, I had an amazing rush of inspiration and had a lot of fun creating projects! Of course maybe that’s because in the back of my head I was thinking…I probably won’t get the chance to create much for the next few months, so I better do it now.

Two weeks before Castor was born, I had the pleasure of getting to work with some of Kodomo’s fabulous products and I ended up creating 4 different layouts after experimenting with Kodomo’s Washi Tape, and various Kodomo stamps!

Here is the first layout I created

It is in His Nature…

To create this layout, I used Kodomo’s dark green Washi Tape which is included in this yellow trio.

I also used this really cute tree stamp

found in their Stamp Marche sets.

Here are some closeup shots of all the details!

* I used Clearsnap Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Pad in Chestnut Roan on my stamp and stamped three seperate trees onto a kraft cardstock and cut them out. Then I used pop dots behind two of them to add some extra dimension. I tore off little bits of the green washi tape, rolled them up in my fingers, squished them, and then used them to create grass underneath the trees. My 7 year old son Memphis thought this technique was really cool and ended up making green washi tape grass for one his own layouts!

* I used Ranger Distress Stickles, in Peeled Paint to fill the button holes and also dress up the chipboard stars and title. I love the look of the distress stickles when they dry because it looks like broken mosaic class.

* I adhered the bottom half of the photos directly to the cardstock, and then placed a couple of pop dots behind the top half of the photos to add a unique type of dimension. This is the first time I had thought to do that and it really ended up looking cool!

I placed a Hambly Overlay in Brown Woodgrain over the cardstock and tore both of them because I have fallen in love with the overly distressed look!

* I also added two torn strips of the washi tape underneath my photos. I absolutely love working with the washi tape because it gives the look of masking tape, but the adhesive on the back is temporary, so repositioning is quick and easy. In fact, I have placed it down on projects several times only to lift it up and place it somewhere else…but each time it re sticks perfectly and the gorgeous colors just make it fun!

Peace, Love, & Happy Creating,
April

I’ve been admiring the washi tape in the MV store…great to see it in use! I can’t believe how well the peeled paint matches the washi tape! Perfect. And all of your little touches are amazing! Thank you again for sharing your talent! :)
