I have been wanting to scrap this picture of my youngest son for a while now, however the lighting wasn’t so hot when I took the picture, he was swinging so it was a little blurry, and there were lots of distracting things in the background…so I put it aside until I had more time to figure out how to scrap it.
Last week I was looking through my pictures and for whatever reason I was inspired to scrap it right then and there.
To create my title I used some of Basic Grey’s Kraft cardstock alphabet stickers and then applied Ranger’s dimensional pearls on top. I think it looks really cool when it’s dry and as you can tell I was going for the artsy effect anyway.
Lots of things going on here: a punched die cut negative, distressed patterned paper, stickers, rub ons, glitter glue, dimensional pearls, a stamp, and some journaling. Decorating small corners like this on a layout is a great way to use up some of those leftover supplies!
I decided to add a swirl like effect using the dimensional pearls (which by the way I can not find on Ranger’s site anymore, however they are the same thing as Liquid Pearls!) The tag was actually leftover from another layout I did a year ago and it was just embossed using my cuttlebug and then colored with shimmer mist.
This was the first time I tried out my new Tim Holtz Tissue Tape though and I gotta say it was pretty cool. I used a 40% coupon at Michael’s to get it because it’s a little pricey, but it’s nothing like I have ever played with before. It looks like decorated tissue paper, feels like a stretchy washi tape, and adheres really well, yet is easy to pull off if you need to move it.
I used my edge distresser to distress the Silver Hambly Vellum Sheet, and sanded the other patterned papers. I misted the corners of the layout with some of Ranger’s color wash, and then I used my fingers to apply some distress stickles so there would be a little bit of shimmer.
The heart was an old Heidi Swapp mask that was no longer sticky…might as well use it for a page embellishment right?
Here’s a close up of the distress stickles in Chipped Saphire!
* For the photo treatment: I traced around Castor in the swing using an awl, and then I simply scratched and sanded the rest of the area behind him so that all the distracting elements were covered up.
I added an older Daisy D rub on to the bottom of the photo. I miss Daisy D’s…
I thought I would show a picture of the layout standing up rather than scanned in like at top of the post. Sometimes it’s easier to see dimension and color.
Peace, Love, & Happy Creating,
April
