Hard Core {Holiday} Crop!

Welcome to the 2nd Hard Core Crop! We are bringing in the Holiday season with challenges designed to get you inspired to create for the Holidays.

Please head over to the Core blog  *{Hard Core Holiday Crop Blog Post} for crop rules.

And we have the Facebook HCC crop page here for you to chat and hang out with fellow Hard Core Croppers so make sure you head over there, too. You never know when challenges or giveaways will pop up over there!

** Today I have created a set of  Holiday cardstock magnets!**

Supplies needed:

  • Strong Magnets (can be found at local Craft & Hobby Store or Wal-Mart)
  • Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock in the colors that suit your choice
  • Glitter (I used Glass and Fine Glitters from Stampendous)
  • Adhesive (I used Beacon Fast Finish Decoupage, 527, & Helmar Scrap Dots)
  • Chipboard, Rhinestones, Brads, and/or other small embellishments you desire for decoration!
  • Core’dinations Sand It Gadget & Dust buddy
  • Various Paper Punches

Let’s get started! Here’s a run down of how I made mine:

( I chose the following cardstock for my project: Tim Holtz Kraft Core Nostaligic Collection, one sheet of Heritage Kraft from the Graphic 45 Signature Series, & Tim Holtz Kraft Core Seasonal Impressions)

* I punched 5 circles from each sheet of cardstock

then laid them on top of each other

and glued them together in a big stack so it would be a little more sturdy!

Then I applied a quick coat of Fast Finish Decoupage to the tops of the circles and dropped some gorgeous silver glitter all over them!

* After I glittered all of them, I simply started the process of decorating them! I am now in love with Helmar’s Scrap Dots by the way… pretty sure I can’t live w/o them anymore!!

I simply used a super strong glue to attach magnets to the backs of my projects and then let them dry. Now I have some cute Holiday magnets to put up on my fridge!

My challenge for you is to use items you have on hand to create a set of home decor magnets for yourself or to give as a  gift! Making magnets can be super fun and so rewarding, because in the end you have a little piece of art to hang up on your fridge or file cabinet. They don’t usually take all that long to make and I have given many over the years and they always bring big smiles!! I think if you give them a try, you will quickly find yourself addicted to making them…I know I am and I plan on making a ton more this month for my friends!

* What do you have the chance to win by participating in my challenge?? A package of our awesome Spotted Tillie Dot 12×12 cardstock (Packs will vary due to availability)

* Challenges must use the Linkinz below. If you do not have a blog, please feel free to use Photobucket or Flickr or any other photo sharing sight that provides links. Challenges must include Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock. You may NOT combine this challenge with any of the other HCC challenges but you may complete this challenge as many times as you like.
