Busy…Busy…Homemade Holiday Gifts!
December 17th, 2009 by April
Well I wish that I had more time to make the pictures below look a little better, but I decided I would rather at least share them now then worry about trying to make them beautiful or blog worthy right now. I made a promise to myself this year that I would try to slow down and enjoy the holidays more and I also wanted to focus on making most of my gifts this year!
So far I am happy to say I have accomplished this goal and I am feeling really good about being able to make so many gifts. I went to the store the other day for the first time to do some Christmas shopping and that was only because I wanted to get the kids a few things and I needed some stocking stuffers from the dollar section at Target and Michaels.
Here are a few of the things I have been working hard on and I will try to take more pics to share soon!

The kids and I made these nifty record bowls the other day and they were so easy and so much fun!

I used the new canvas inserts by Donna Downey to create some receipt holders for your purse. I sewed them up on the sides, added some ribbon from Dove of the East, and then added some Heidi Swapp Iron Ons!

I made a tulle and ribbon tutu for my niece Colbie and of course Charlie just fell in love with it! Little does she know she is getting one too!

I made these yesterday and basically I just took two dinner napkins, sewed them together and made pockets so you can hang them over the arm chair or arm of the couch and they will hold remote controls, eye glasses, etc. I was actually pretty proud of myself when I finished…even though the stitching isn’t straight…the kids got some peanut butter on them…and now they also have a few dots of bleach here and there because I didn’t move them far enough away while I was trying to clean up the peanut butter…but oh well that’s life right??

This is another canvas insert that I sewed into a pocket to hang on the wall. I stuffed it with the handmade owl embellishments I created below.

The first one is an owl that I scanned in from a pair of my pj’s and then printed it out on some Sticky Back canvas. The next one is a free pdf I downloaded a while back that I printed out and adhered to some sticky back canvas using gel medium and then stuffed to create and ornament. The last one I created using some owl ribbon a friend had given to me, along with paper and stickers, and then I used glossy accents to adhere it to a Tim Holtz Fragment. I made it into an ornament by glueing a photo turn to the back and clipping on a Tim Holtz swivel clasp!

This is the cover to a set of music cd’s I made for relative who likes my taste in music! lol

Last but not least I created some little fridge magnets using paper, stickers, fragments, and glossy accents!
On the agenda today is a LOT of baking!!! We are leaving for Texas tomorrow so I have to get crackin! Hope to share more soon – Happy Holidays!
