Art In Your Pocket

This was another one of the projects that I created for the ScrapFriends review of Staedtler’s Watercolor Crayons. I wanted to share it because it was really fun and easy to make and would be a cute wall hanging or gift for a friend!

Supplies:
Cardstock (Prism Prismatics)
Watercolor Crayons (Staedtler)
Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels)
Butterfly Sheer (Maya Road)
Rhinestones (Sparkle Style)
Clear Frame & Ribbon (Fancy Pants)
Rub Ons (Scenic Route, & Hambly)
Felt & Jewel Brad (Heidi Swapp)
Adhesive (Adhesive Tech, Permanent Bond Glue Runner

Here’s how I created this project!

* 1. I sprayed the glimmer mist all over a sheet of pale pink cardstock to make it shimmer!
* 2. I adhered the Fancy Pants Clear scalloped frame to the page using ribbon and placed rhinestones in all the little holes. (I have to note hear that I am seriously in love with the Fancy Pants Clearly Bigger Transparent Die Cuts!! In fact this one scalloped frame has been used several times before I finally attached it to this project…it made an awesome stencil for a few other pages!)
* 3. I outlined the inside of the clear frame using the black watercolor crayon and then ran a wet paint brush over it.
* 4. I used a couple of the watercolor crayons to color the sheer butterfly that came from a Maya Road Butterfly mini album.
* 5. I transfered the Scenic Route “Creative” rub on onto the butterfly and then adhered the butterfly to the page using mini glue dots which I placed behind the rub on. I also added a big Heidi Swapp Jeweled brad…everything needs extra bling right?
* 6. I thought the hot pink of the new Heidi Swapp felt butterflies didn’t really match, so I colored them with the Burgundy Watercolor Crayon and adhered them with mini glue dots.
* 7. Last but not least, I added the new Hambly “Art in your pocket” rub on underneath the butterfly.

I also adhered a sheet of chipboard behind the layout to make it a little stronger so I could hang it on the wall.

To me it was all about playing and experimenting and it was just what I needed to relieve my stress since this summer has been so busy so far. I recently mentioned to my friend who said she had been in a creative funk - that it’s when I sit down with no agenda and just play and experiment with things that I really get inspired. So if you have hit a wall, my suggestion would be to try out some new supplies, or a new art medium and just PLAY!
